The First Muay Thai Champion of Black Dragon Kai was Duane “Shadow” Sheppard. “Shadow” won the ISKA Qld Lightweight Title on August the 14th 2005 by defeating top ranked Rocky White with a Knock Out in the 4th Round. He then went on to consolidate his Queensland Champion status by defeating Gem Ozmegelic for the WMC Qld Title.
Duane then went and stayed a total of nearly four years in Thailand, the highlight being to fight at the Mecca of Muay Thai - Lumpini Stadium.
He is currently serving in the Australian Navy and acts a cornerman for Black Dragon Kai whenever he is in the country.
